Herman Goettsch

Founder

Herman Goettsch, a pioneer in the folding carton industry, retired as general manager of The Sefton Box Company in Chicago, Illinois — a forerunner of Container Corporation of America. After retiring, he returned to Germany in the early 1920s and started a business representing American companies, planting the seed for what would become Goettsch International.

Carl O. Goettsch

Founder, Carl O. Goettsch Company

Another of Herman's sons, Carl took over the family business in Dresden in 1929. Amid the turbulence of the 1930s, he relocated the business first to Switzerland, then to the United States. In 1950 he founded the Carl O. Goettsch Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, initially exporting paper products and machinery. Over the following decade, corrugating machinery became the heart of the business.
